ANTI-AGING TECHNIQUES

In this unprecedented time of uncertainty, while we are all practicing social distancing and staying at home to protect our families and ourselves, Dr. Patel will share her secrets with you of how to maintain an anti-aging routine without plastic surgery.

Today we will talk about anti-aging techniques while you are waiting for your next plastic surgery appointment. At this time, all Botox, fillers, facial treatments, non-surgical laser treatments and radiofrequency treatments or whatever treatments that you rely on for your beauty needs are on hold. But there are things that you can do at home to maintain your glow.

First, since most of us are indoors at this time anyway, it is a good way to protect our skin from damaging effects of the sun. Sun exposure causes photo aging leading to skin pigmentation as well as fine lines and wrinkles. Of course, we need a little amount of sun exposure, but excessive exposure can lead to early signs of aging. So at this time, give your skin a break from constant sun exposure. But remember even if you are indoors, if you are next to a window for many hours, you should still use sunblock to protect your skin. You can get UVA and UVB radiation even through windows.

Next, ladies give your skin a break from makeup. You are at home at this time, not going out for anything except essential business. Don’t apply any makeup while you are home and let your skin breathe without all the chemicals that we subject our faces to daily. And if you are going out, wear a mask so you don’t need to wear makeup anyway.

And don’t forget about your skin care routine. Even though all our schedules have changed over the past couple of weeks and many of us are working from home or not working, do not skimp on your skin care routine. It is essential in maintaining your skin until you get in for your next plastic surgery appointment. In the next few blogs, we will talk about skin care routines. If you already have one, you might want to reassess it or you can stick to it. If you don’t have a skin care routine, this is a great time to create one. It is very hard at this time to go to the stores or even order products, so we will try to post skin care routines that can be done with products that you may have at home or using products that will not be difficult to obtain.

Stay tuned….
